Wearable Technologies Show at MEDICA 2011

After an extremely successful start in 2010, Wearable Technologies will be a partner of the MEDICA once again with the special exhibition area “WTshow“. MEDICA is the world’s leading medical trade fair and will take place in Dusseldorf from November 16-19.

The MEDICA is particularly characterized by high internationality: Around half of the visitors and almost two thirds of the exhibitors come from abroad.

Also the partners of this year’s WTshow are international. Designed as a common stand, the WTshow offers the manufacturers of diverse products a unique marketing platform and high media interest.

The Spanish company nuubo offers a complete wearable system which can be applied for cardiac patients as well as athletes for the collection of biometric data. Also the Taiwanese company Tex-Ray will show the AiQ BioMan T-Shirt that measures vital data through sensors. The products of Bioness from California focus on functional and careful electrical stimulation to support the patient in regaining their mobility in case of neurological diseases. The eHealth Gateway presented by Bluegiga is a powerful Linux based device platform enabling the development of complete health and medical solutions. The gateway enables the system integrators to build medical networks where medical information is automatically collected from Bluetooth enabled medical sensors and transmitted via Internet to various electronic patient health records. 

But there will also be German developments. The Fraunhofer Institute presents a fitness jacket with sensors for motion detection and Bodytel has an entire product range supporting patients with home diagnostics of chronic diseases, prevention, and lifestyle changes advised by healthcare professionals. The core of these support functions is the automatic documentation and transfer of measured vital data, as well as the simple collection of relevant additional information and thereby the development of a complete medical record.

Further exhibitors are 7 Layers, Avery Dennison, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, CSEM, Freescale, Laird Technology, Mindtree, Texas Instruments and Varta Microbattery.
