SUCCESSFUL START OF THE BLUETOOTH INNOVATION WORLD CUP 2009

252 cutting-edge ideas for Bluetooth low energy technology applications

Bellevue, Wa, 06 November, 2009 – The Bluetooth Innovation World Cup 2009 has attracted great attention from developers and innovators submitting their ideas for applications and products using the soon to be released Bluetooth low energy technology specification. 252 participants have jumped at the opportunity to become Bluetooth Innovator of the Year.

Three runners-up along with the  Bluetooth Innovator of the Year will be announced at a prize ceremony being held on 6 February 2010 and will present their ideas at an exhibition space within the Wearable Technologies Area at ispo winter 2010, the world’s largest sporting goods trade show.  The overall winner will receive €5,000 and a Bluetooth Qualification Program (QDID) voucher valued at up to $10 000.

Winners of this global competition will be well positioned to benefit from the steadily increasing interest in Bluetooth low energy and chipsets with the new technology, which are expected to reach the market in the first quarter of 2010. Bluetooth low energy technology is the first, standardized Personal Area Networking with extremely low power consumption and will set new standards for applications in fields such as consumer electronics, health care, household appliances, the automobile industry and automation technology.
